Total solar eclipse reaches its peak in Ontario

A total solar eclipse has reached its peak in Ontario.

The eclipse began shortly after 2 p.m. and reached its peak at around 3:20 p.m.

Large crowds gathered in Niagara Falls, Fort Erie and other southern Ontario communities to take in the rare celestial event.

In Niagara Falls, the moment of totality lasted for about three minutes and 31 seconds.

The eclipse is expected to end at around 4:30 p.m. in much of southern Ontario.
