Police arrested two people in downtown Toronto Friday afternoon in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation that resulted in a chase, which was captured on video.
Toronto police said the Automated Licence Plate Recognition camera alerted officers about a stolen truck in the area of Queen Street West and University Avenue around 3:15 p.m. on Friday, prompting them to investigate.
At some point, police said the driver of the truck rammed into a cruiser.
It appears the truck later crashed into a Little Burgundy store on Queen Street West. Video obtained by CP24 show police cruisers boxing in the truck following the crash.
As one officer approaches the vehicle, one person jumps out of the front passenger door and runs away.
Officers are seen going after him, including one member of the Mounted Unit. “And there’s a horse,” the person taking the video is heard saying.
Police said an officer in the cruiser that was struck was injured and transported to the hospital. They added that a police horse was also hit by the vehicle and was being assessed.
It is not immediately known what charges, if any, are being laid.
