The Ottawa Police Service is asking witnesses who might have seen the crash that critically injured a woman Saturday afternoon on St. Laurent Boulevard to come forward.
Ottawa paramedics say a woman,50, suffered critical injuries after a serious single-vehicle crash in the city’s east end. She was taken to hospital in life-threatening injuries, police say.
The crash happened at approximately 3 p.m. on St. Laurent Boulevard near the intersection of Innes Road.
There were no other injuries reported.
Dashcam footage sent to CTV News shows a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction before striking a hydro pole and damaging several others.
The crash caused power outages for nearby businesses and residents.
“We’re aware of a power outage in Alta Vista impacting 570 customers. The cause is a vehicle making contact with a primary conductor. Crews have been assigned and are on-site working to safely restore power as quickly as possible,” Hydro Ottawa said on X.
Rogers also reported fibre internet and phone outages for customers in parts of Vanier and Orléans as a result of the crash.
St. Laurent Boulevard remained closed in both directions between Innes Road and Lancaster Road.
“Police are on scene directing traffic. Please avoid the area,” Ottawa police said in a social media post.
Anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call police at 613-236-1222, extension 2345, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
