Here’s what’s filming in Toronto in April and which celebs you might spot in the city

Production on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV shows is ramping up in Toronto.

Stars linked to numerous popular series are back in the city working on upcoming seasons and new shows are in the works as well.

So if you’ve been wondering why Jacob Elordi has been spotted around town or when the seriesGinny and Georgia is finally coming back for a new season, we have all the details!

Here’s what’s filming in Toronto in April and which celebs are a part of each project.

Ginny and Georgia Season 3

The cast of Ginny and Georgia are heading back to Ontario to film Season 3 of the Netflix show.

After a shocking finale in Season 2 with Georgia (played by Brianne Howey) being arrested for murder at her wedding, fans are surely waiting to see what happens next.

Creator Sarah Lampert previously said Season 3 will throw “new hurdles, new relationships and new challenges” at Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia “in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.”

While the show is set in small-town USA, the series is filmed around Ontario, including in Coburg and Toronto. So keep your eyes peeled for your favourite characters from the show!

Season 3 is expected to be released on Netflix in 2025.

The Boys Season 5

Season 4 of The Boys has yet to air, but the cast is already set to begin production on Season 5.

While Amazon Prime Video hasn’t confirmed the show’s renewal for Season 5, Ontario Creates and Productionlist.com have the new season beginning filming in early April.

Amazon Prime Video’s show is based on a comic series of the same name. The cast includes Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty and Jensen Ackles.

It looks like Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be in Season 4 thanks to a photo shared on Prime Video’s Instagram page.

According to Screen Rant, Season 4 of The Boys will premiere sometime in 2024.

Murderbot

A new Apple TV+ sci-fi series Murderbot is filming in Toronto.

The show, starring Alexander Skarsgard, “follows a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients.” Murderbot will embark on a “dangerous assignment,” but all it really wants is to be left alone to watch “futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.”

Skarsgard will not only star in the show but will also serve as its executive producer.

The show is based on the sci-fi series “The Murderbot Diaries” by Martha Wells.

Oppenheimer actor David Dastmalchian will play Gurathin, Sabrina Wu is set to play Pin-Lee, Tamara Podemski will play Bharadwaj and Tattiawna Jones will play Arada.

A release date for the series has not been announced.

Motorheads Season 1

Prime Video’s new show Motorheads is about to begin production in Toronto.

The show stars Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino and Melissa Collazo.

Motorheads is about a group of outsiders in a “once-thriving Rust Belt town [who] form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles,” as per the IMDb description.

According to Deadline, Phillippe will play Logan, an ex-NASCAR mechanic who has trouble keeping his auto body shop in Pennsylvania running.

Kelley will star as Samantha, an ER nurse who recently left her job in New York City to move back home with her kids.

No premiere date for the show has been announced.

Frankenstein

Guillermo del Toro’sFrankenstein movie is in production in Toronto.

The film stars Jacob Elordi who plays the iconic monster.

Other cast members include Oscar Issac, who plays Victor Frankenstein, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley and Christian Convery.

IMDb says the Netflix film will follow Dr. Pretorious who needs to “track down Frankenstein’s monster who is believed to have died in a fire 40 years before to continue the experiments of Dr. Frankenstein.”

Elordi, Goth and del Toro have all been spotted in Toronto by eagle-eyed fans so if you’re eager to see one of the stars, keep your eyes open in the city!

Del Toro has also been visiting video stores and bookstores in the city and has given numerous shops a shout-out online.

A release date for the film is unknown at this point.

Cross Season 2

A TV series based on James Paterson’s Alex Cross novels will begin filming Season 2 in Ontario soon.

Cross is about a detective and forensic psychologist who can “dig into the psyches” of killers and their victims so that he can identify and capture the murderer, according to Deadline.

The series stars Aldis Hodge, who plays Alex Cross, Ryan Eggold, Isaiah Mustafa, Johnny Ray Gill, Alona Tal, Siobhan Murphy and Eloise Mumford.

Season 2 will see a new cast member, Sharon Taylor, who will replace Karen LeBlanc as Lt. Oracene Massey.

The Madness

A limited series starring The Color Purple actor Colman Domingo is filming in Toronto.

The Madness will have eight episodes when it airs on Netflix.

According to Netflix, the “conspiracy thriller” will feature Muncie Daniels (played by Domingo) who is “forced to prove his innocence (and fight for his life) after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the wooded Pocono mountains.”

No other cast has been announced at this point.

Dr. Wolf Season 1

The pilot of a new NBC medical drama Dr. Wolf is set to begin filming in Ontario.

Zachary Quinto will play the lead character, Dr. Oliver Wolf, a neurologist who along with his interns explore the human mind while also dealing with their own relationships, as per a Variety report.

The cast also includes Tamberla Perry, Aury Krebs, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alexander MacNicoll, Teddy Sears and Spence Moore II.

Skymed Season 3

Canadian TV show Skymed has been renewed for a third season and production is underway.

The Paramount+ show follows “high-stakes medical rescues, heartbreaks and tribulations of budding nurses and pilots flying air ambulances,” according to IMDb.

It stars Natasha Calis as Hayley, Morgan Holmstrom as Crystal, Praneet Akilla as Chopper and Aaron Ashmore as Wheezer.

Reacher Season 3

Production on Season 3 of Reacher is on hiatus until late April, while the show’s star Alan Ritchson films a movie in Vancouver.

Once Ritchson wraps up in B.C., he’ll be back in Ontario to continue working on the hit Amazon Prime show.

The third season will also include series regular Maria Sten as Master Sergeant Francis Neagly, and new cast members Anthony Michael Hall and Sonya Cassidy.

Season 3 will be based on Lee Child’s book Persuader.
