You don’t need to get on a plane in order to enjoy bright blue waters and enchanting beaches. This small town is a road trip away from Toronto and it will whisk you away to the tropics.
If you don’t have a car, you can still get a taste of the magic of this small town and the surrounding area. On select days, a bus will be travelling from downtown Toronto to this incredible destination and back again.
You can hike your way to a stunning lookout over crystal clear water and see natural wonders, limestone caverns and more.
Here’s what to know about the bus trip and dreamy destination.
Tour bus agency Parkbus is offering several day trips to Lion’s Head from June to October, meaning you can explore this incredible spot without needing a car.
The bus leaves from the Bloor-Yonge area and takes you right to the small town of Lion’s Head, where you can embark on a self-guided exploration of the area.
The highlight of this location is Lion’s Head Nature Reserve, which is “one of the most beautiful places in Eastern North America,” according to Parkbus.
A 4 kilometre trek along the Bruce Trail will take you to the iconic Lion’s Head Lookout, where you can gaze over vibrant turquoise waters that belong in the Caribbean.
Along the way, you’ll come across ancient geological formations, including giant potholes and cave-like structures in the limestone.
If you’re planning to stay for more than a day, you’ll have time to check out McKay Harbour, where you can take a dip in the crystal, cool waters of Georgian Bay.
There is also a sandy beach in the village you can enjoy if you make it back early.
The trip takes 4 to 5 hours one way, so be prepared for a big adventure!
