Bus lanes cut Spadina transit travel times, city data shows

Travel times for transit riders on Spadina Avenue have been reduced by almost half during peak hours after dedicated bus lanes were added to keep traffic moving during streetcar work, according to the mayor and TTC.

At a press conference on the corner of Spadina Avenue and Front Street on Thursday morning attended by Mayor Olivia Chow, TTC chair Coun. Jamaal Myers and Coun. Ausma Malik (Ward 10, Spadina—Fort York), the city said that southbound riders saw a decrease in their commutes by an average of 12 minutes. At the busiest times of day, the most severe travel times dropped from about 56 minutes to 19 minutes.
