Construction firm lawyers say it’s ‘ashamed’ and blame ‘rogue employees’ amid overbilling allegations

Lawyers for a Mississauga-based construction company facing allegations it overbilled the City of Toronto have blamed “rogue employees” and offered to pay back any overbilled amount — which they call a tiny fraction of the contracts now under review.

Duron Ontario Ltd.’s lawyers appeared Wednesday before the city’s general government committee, as it approved a four-month extension to the company’s initial six-month suspension, which prevents the firm from bidding on city contracts. The company could yet face a potential five-year ban, a measure previously proposed by staff.
