Controversial contract with U.S. tech company has cost Toronto taxpayers: auditor general

A multimillion-dollar contract the city signed with a U.S. tech company to handle online payments has failed to deliver the promised savings and revenue, the auditor general has concluded in a newly released report.

The auditor general also found that senior city officials at the time cut corners, failed to keep records about key decisions and didn’t follow proper protocols while ignoring concerns staff raised internally leading up to the controversial sole-source contract.
