A couple who survived a horrific crash in Whitby after police chased a robbery suspect heading the wrong way on Highway 401 released a statement Sunday as they mourn the loss of their parents and three-month-old child.
Gokulnath Manivannan and Ashwitha Jawahar’s family were among the victims of a deadly six-vehicle crash on April 29, the culmination of a high-speed pursuit by Durham Regional Police that’s now the focus of a complex investigation by Ontario’s police watchdog, a probe zeroing in on the actions of two police officers.
