I’ve packed gift boxes in suburban warehouses, delivered them to neighbourhood depots in church basements, community centres and fire halls across the city. I’ve spoken to civic groups about the fund, accepted donations in person on behalf of readers, attended Christmas church concerts in support of the fund, written articles about the charity and, even when I wasn’t based in Toronto, I made an annual donation.
