Dedicated bus lane eyed as fix to ease Spadina traffic congestion

Spadina Avenue may be getting a dedicated bus lane to help move the TTC buses replacing the 510 streetcar along the most congested stretch of the busy downtown road.

Adding a dedicated bus lane would mean Spadina’s three southbound lanes would be reduced to two for all other drivers. To add the lane, the city would temporarily be removing on-street parking and a taxi stand on the west side of the street.

The Star’s Mahdis Habibinia took the 3.5-kilometre journey from Bloor Street to Queens Quay during the afternoon rush — twice. First by the streetcar while it was still running; then by the replacement bus.
