Doug Ford government taps ex-city budget chief for role in Toronto ‘new deal’ talks

Premier Doug Ford’s government has enlisted a familiar figure to advise it on talks with Toronto about shoring up the city’s finances: John Tory’s former budget chief. 

The province confirmed Tuesday that it had appointed Gary Crawford to serve as a special adviser on the next stage of the fiscal “new deal” between Ontario and Toronto.
