Her husband’s dying wish was that she stay forever in the house they built. Now she’s being pushed out by the Ontario Line

JoAnn Dodds has lived in her Riverdale home for nearly three decades. The quaint house on Pape Avenue, a labour of love she and her late husband renovated and designed, features hundreds of antiques and custom-built elements, including a fenced-in porch with vibrant ivy climbing the sides and a collection of clocks dating back to the 1790s.

Recently, Dodds received notice from Metrolinx that she must vacate the property by November 2025 to make way for construction of the Ontario Line.
