Students Achilles Tsoukalas and Liam Schmit saw the province’s cellphone ban coming — after years of seeing classmates text and scroll throughout their high school classes — and support limits on using devices in school. Just don’t ask them to hand over their cellphones to teachers.
“I feel like this is a deeper rooted problem that needs to be fixed, rather than just banning cellphones in school,” said Achilles Tsoukalas, 17, who attends Central Technical School in Toronto. “It’s personal, you coming to me and taking my phone. I feel like it’s too authoritative.”
