Seymour Gibbs Jr., 14, is grappling with the daunting reality of losing his father in a sudden tragedy — in a shooting police say was carried out by a boy the same age.

Earlier this month, two people opened fire after exiting a pickup truck that had pulled up at North Albion Collegiate Institute where a group was gathered to relax and socialize after a soccer game. 

As politicians speak out against this latest shooting, community members say they crave deeper action and renewed resources for youth support

Two men — Seymour Gibbs and Delroy “George” Parkes — died after the shooting.

Heather Parkes, the wife of Delroy “George” Parkes, and their daughter Jaidyn Parkes, left at Toronto Police Service 23 Division. Parkes, 61, was killed in a shooting behind an Etobicoke school on the night of June 2.
