Highway 401 wrong-way chase results in criminal charges for two Durham police officers

Two Durham police officers have been criminally charged in connection to a catastrophic police chase the wrong way down Highway 401, a pursuit launched over an LCBO theft that ended in a head-on crash killing four, including an infant and his grandparents.

Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), said Friday that it has charged Sgt. Richard Flynn and Cst. Brandon Hamilton with three counts each of criminal negligence causing death and two counts each of criminal negligence causing bodily harm for their alleged roles in the April 2024 collision.
