‘I am sounding the alarm right now’: Council pulls back on rule change allowing neighbourhood corner stores

A proposed zoning change that would have allowed restaurants and retail in Toronto’s residential neighbourhoods has been sent back to the drawing board by city council after outcry from residents’ associations.

Since May, city staff have examined the idea of creating a bylaw to accommodate variety stores and cafés on residential street corners and across from parks and schools.
