‘I just don’t want Rachel to be a statistic’: Family calls for school bus safety measures to be implemented after death of 22-year-old woman

A month after 22-year-old Rachel Turner was fatally struck by the driver of a school bus near her home in the Beaches, her family is demanding answers and pointing to flaws in a system that saw school bus drivers collide with and kill three people in the last five months.

“I just don’t want Rachel to be a statistic,” her father, Leon, told reporters outside their family home on Wednesday. “Nobody should have to go through this, what we’re going through.”
