Toronto police chief Myron Demkiw formally apologized Tuesday for saying he’d been ”hoping for a different outcome” in the Umar Zameer trial, saying he “should have been more clear” that he accepted the jury’s verdict in the moments after the jury’s acquittal in the high-profile murder trial.
“I fully understand the concerns that have been expressed, and I’ve been reflecting on my comments as Chief of Police,” Demkiw told a meeting of the Toronto police board Tuesday.
