Indigo vandalism probe not influenced by Heather Reisman’s calls to Toronto’s top cop, Ontario judge rules — but chief should still explain it

An Ontario judge has found there is “no evidence” the Toronto police investigation into vandalism at an Indigo store was personally influenced by the company’s CEO — but said it’s reasonable to ask the police chief to explain why he twice spoke to Heather Reisman in the incident’s immediate aftermath.

In a decision released this week, Ontario judge Philip Downes shut down a sweeping legal application filed by lawyers for six of the so-called Indigo 11, which sought reams of additional police and financial records in order to mount a Charter challenge of their criminal charges.
