It’s ‘reasonable’ to let admitted child sex abuser practise law in Ontario, court rules

A court has paved the way for a man who sexually abused children to become a lawyer, dealing a blow to the Law Society of Ontario’s years-long effort to block him from being called to the bar.

In a decision released late last month, the Divisional Court found that it was “reasonable” for a tribunal to conclude that the man — identified only as AA due to a publication ban — was of “good character” to practise law.
