Judge postpones Peter Nygard sentencing, vows no more delays ‘unless he’s in a coma’

A Toronto judge has “very, very reluctantly” agreed to postpone Peter Nygard’s sex assault sentencing hearing to allow his new Manitoba lawyer time to prepare for the proceeding, which had been scheduled for next week.

There will be no more adjournments “unless he’s in a coma,” Superior Court Justice Robert Goldstein told Zoom court Monday. The judge said he shares the prosecution’s “suspicion” that the 82-year-old disgraced former fashion mogul is attempting to postpone the unavoidable after his conviction last November by a jury on four counts of sexual assault.
