A judge has decided the Crown attorney in the Michael Thompson sex assault trial made a mistake by sharing photos with one the complainants in advance of her testimony, but ruled Wednesday it does not warrant the prosecutor’s removal from the proceedings, nor does it justify tossing one of the charges.
Crown Mareike Newhouse did what she did simply to provide the witness with a “head’s up, this may be coming your way,” Ontario Court Justice Philop Brissette said during a brief oral ruling at the Bracebridge courthouse.
