Man sentenced to 11 years for fatal stabbing rampage at otherwise ‘peaceful’ Annex Halloween party

Toronto man Jacob Alves has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for fatally stabbing another man and seriously injuring six others at a Halloween party in the Annex in 2019.

“Despite the fact that hundreds of young people gathered on this street to celebrate Halloween, the crowd was peaceful and easy. That is, other than Mr. Alves,” Superior Court Justice Kelly Byrne said Tuesday reading her sentencing judgment at the downtown courthouse.
