‘She just wanted to feel safe’: Toronto woman reported death threats to police days before her killing, murder trial hears

Dylon Dowman ran up behind his ex-girlfriend Daniella Mallia in a building courtyard, grabbed her by the neck and dragged her into an underground parking garage where he trapped her before shooting her to death, the Crown alleged at the start of Dowman’s first-degree murder trial Tuesday.

Just three days before the Aug. 18, 2022, killing in the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area, Mallia had reported to Toronto police that she received threatening texts from Dowman, including: “You still breathing cause I say so” and “Ain’t no coming back from death. You’re done.”
