York police have identified a suspect vehicle which they believe is linked to four drive-by shootings that occurred on a January night at Cineplex cinemas in York region, Peel region and Toronto.
The joint investigation between York, Peel and Toronto police departments was led by York police because two of the four incidents happened in York Region.
On January 24, 2024, police were called to a theatre in the area of Highway 7 and East Beaver Creek, in Richmond Hill, after an employee arrived for work and found the glass front entry doors had been shot. The same day, police in Vaughan responded to a similar call at a theatre in the area of Highway 7 and Weston Road.
Investigators believe the same suspects are involved in both occurrences in York Region and in similar shootings that occurred at cinemas in Toronto and Peel Region on the same night.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak with anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area around the time of these incidents.
