‘They were just rushing towards the car’: Umar Zameer describes panic of not knowing Const. Northrup was Toronto police

Umar Zameer says he felt he and his family were about to be robbed or killed when strangers started shouting and banging on the windows of his BMW in the deserted underground garage at Nathan Phillips Square late at night.

Unaware they were police officers dressed in plainclothes, Zameer said he also didn’t realize he ran over Toronto police Const. Jeffrey Northrup as he tried to flee early July 2, 2021.
