They’ve goat this: City deploying ‘eco-herd’ of goats at Toronto park for urban grazing project

The City of Toronto is bringing in the greatest grazers of all time to combat invasive plants at Don Valley Brick Works (DVBW) Park next week, part of its pilot project to find alternative methods to maintain urban greenspaces.

A specialized “eco-herd” of goats will work in “an intensive two-day grazing session” at the meadow in DVBW Park on Tuesday and Wednesday  as part of Toronto’s Prescribed Goat Grazing Pilot Project, the city announced on Friday.

The city says that, without prescribed grazing or other management tools, Toronto’s urban meadows would become forests as woody species enter the area, or become overtaken by invasive species.
