This artist built a whimsical collection of driftwood creatures along Toronto’s waterfront. Then the city told him to take them down

As the Humber Bay Shores Park community laments the loss of a beloved art installation by a retiree, one expert says part of the magic is that it was fleeting.

For the past month, parkgoers were greeted by an array of animal sculptures of all sizes made from driftwood, rocks and other debris collected from the park’s rocky beaches.
