The first time I stepped inside Presse Internationale, I dreaded the inevitable day it would close.
It was a few years ago, and even then, I thought this place was too good to be true in the digital age. The Annex store (at 537 Bloor St. W., to be exact) boasts one of the city’s largest selections of international magazines and newspapers from around the world. In the hours I have spend browsing the shelves — guessing the weight of independent fashion magazines thicker than Vogue’s September issue and getting sucked in by cover lines of British TV presenters and European royalty I’ve never heard of — I always walk out a little bit happier with a small stack of titles to get me through the next weeks of commuting.
