Three people — including two children — have died in an intense North End apartment blaze that forced dozens of tower residents to flee and caused the shutdown of much of the neighbourhood for a massive emergency response.
Shaken apartment residents described hearing terrified screams amid escape-blocking walls of smoke in the stairwell of the 20-storey tower as more than 60 firefighters converged on the burning building at 35 Brock St. Sunday morning.
