Three family members slain in the same house. Years of gruelling court hearings. Why the sister of Bill Harrison won’t give up

On trial days, Elizabeth Gallant arrives at the courthouse no later than 9:30 a.m. She pushes her walker across the parking lot, through the security scanner and into the third-floor courtroom reserved for the murder trial.

Gallant, 79, a slight woman with warm brown eyes, cropped white hair and a stooped upper back, has done this more than 100 times in the past 10 years, becoming a familiar face at the Brampton Courthouse.

In court, Elizabeth Gallant has had a front-row seat to the horrors her family endured over the years. She had to try not to show emotion in the courtroom, as that could influence the jury and compromise the right to a fair trial.
