A tornado watch has been issued for parts of the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas for Thursday afternoon and into the early evening.
Environment Canada said there is a risk of severe thunderstorms developing in the afternoon, which could cause tornadoes and other weather hazards including strong winds blowing at 110 km/h, large hail, heavy rain and nickel-to-toonie-sized hail.
Mid June is expected to bring sweltering heat and rain to the region, according to Environment Canada.
