Toronto gasoline killing a ‘textbook’ intimate-partner homicide, Crown argues at close of murder trial

A Toronto judge is now deciding whether a man who killed his estranged partner by setting her ablaze is guilty of first- or second-degree murder after listening to the defence and Crown deliver their final arguments Wednesday.

Defence lawyer I. Loui Dallas urged Superior Court Justice Jane Kelly to accept that Norbert Budai acted impulsively the afternoon of June 17, 2022, when he doused Henriette Viski, 37, with gasoline and lit her on fire at her Scarborough townhouse.
