Toronto judge critiques prosecution of teen in sex-worker assault despite DNA evidence

A Toronto judge says he found it “unsettling” that the Crown continued to prosecute a teenage boy for a violent sexual assault even though he didn’t match the suspect’s description and DNA evidence suggested he was not the perpetrator.

Ontario Court Justice Brock Jones immediately acquitted the boy following his trial in December, and last week released his full reasons.
