Toronto Police Service is warning the public of a caller ID spoofing scam that involves the impersonation of Toronto Police officers.
In the scam, a suspect provides a false name and badge number, before telling the victim they are investigating fraudulent activity and to contact the Chinese authorities, police said in a release. The suspect may also place a video call and record it.
