Toronto to revamp vacant home tax after disastrous rollout

The city is proposing several changes to the vacant home tax program that saw several thousand Torontonians mistakenly receive tax bills during a disastrous rollout earlier this year.

Among the proposed changes are extending the declaration due date to the last business day of April, changing the payment due dates, adding exemptions for medical reasons and eliminating the user fee for failing to provide a declaration status by the due date.
