Just hours before he called the provincial election, Premier Doug Ford took another step toward removing the bike lanes from three Toronto streets — though the mayor’s office said it still hoped for a “constructive solution.”
On Tuesday morning, the Ford government announced it had “retained an engineering company” to begin design work to remove bike lanes on Bloor Street, Yonge Street and University Avenue. The provincial government has maintained that removing the bike lanes will help alleviate Toronto’s gridlock.
