Toronto’s street food scene is finally thriving. Here’s a summer market to check out

For most of the year, the open space outside of Union station is simply filled with people hurrying in and out of the bustling transit hub. However, in the summer, the plaza shifts from a place you’re passing through to a place you’re staying awhile.

Union Summer, a food market featuring a variety of food stalls, a bar and live entertainment, has been popping up since 2015. Since the end of June until Aug. 25, a dozen Toronto-based vendors rotate between five food stalls, and there are live musical acts and DJ sets. The available picnic tables in front of the stalls fill up at lunchtime with families and office workers. If there’s a Blue Jays game, come early to secure a seat.
