The city says it’s on track to avoid a repeat of last year’s failed rollout of Toronto’s vacant home tax, although the Canada Post strike has put a wrinkle in plans to improve program response rates.
The portal for residents to declare whether their property is occupied opened at the start of this month, and already the number of responses indicates “the success of the city’s efforts to streamline the process and improve accessibility for homeowners,” said Stephen Conforti, Toronto’s chief financial officer, in a statement.
