TTC, union agree that Wheel-Trans will run even if there is a strike

With a TTC workers’ strike possible as early as Friday, the transit agency and its union have agreed that the Wheel-Trans paratransit service will operate even if the rest of the system shuts down.

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113, which represents 12,000 TTC workers who could walk off the job Friday morning, said in a statement late Monday, that it recognizes “the importance of the Wheel-Trans service to riders who are dependent on this important transportation service to get to and from their needs, including medical care, and therefore as an act of good faith, our members will continue to operate full Wheel-Trans services in the event of a strike/lockout.”
