U of T gives student protesters 24 hours to respond to offer to end encampment

Student protesters at University of Toronto are expected to announce their decision Friday morning on the ultimatum presented to them by university administration.

Agreeing would mean U of T would create committees to consider divesting from Israel over the next several months. Rejecting the deal could lead to a forced clearing of the encampment by police.

For three weeks, hundreds of protesters have been sleeping in tents on the U of T campus in a bid to get the school to restructure its finances and academic relationships to sanction Israel, amid the war in Gaza.
