The union representing Toronto’s public high school teachers is offering members a “meal rebate” of up to $60 to attend a board meeting to speak out against budget cuts — a move that’s drawing criticism from some parents who question the ethics of such a payment.
The local Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation union says the money is an effort to “remove barriers to participation” at a crucial meeting of trustees on Thursday.
