The property tax hike in this year’s city budget will likely be less painful for Torontonians than the historic increase Mayor Olivia Chow imposed in 2024.

But while the spending plan set to launch this week is expected to include more money for transit, libraries, emergency services and housing, allies of the mayor warned there won’t be across-the-board improvements to many services residents depend on as Toronto still faces serious financial challenges.
