Work at Ontario Place is stopped pending a court hearing

Work on redeveloping Ontario Place into a spa and waterpark has been paused until July 19, after a group hoping to preserve the site won a legal hearing to challenge the project on constitutional grounds.

Ontario Place Protectors is seeking a declaration that the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act — passed by the Doug Ford government in an effort to expedite the redevelopment — is unconstitutional, breaching the doctrine of public trust.
