York police release video after 6 dump trucks allegedly set on fire in Vaughan

York police are looking for a suspect seen in security footage allegedly setting fire to dump trucks in a Vaughan industrial yard Monday night.

The video, shared by police in a press release Thursday morning, shows a person appearing to pour lighter fluid around a single truck in a parking lot before igniting it. The person then walks across the lot to a separate row of trucks where they again appear to pour fluid before igniting a fire.

On Monday, July 1, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers responded to a fire at an industrial yard in the area of Highway 27 and Highway 407. When they arrived on scene, they located six dump trucks engulfed in flame.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services attended and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance video shows one suspect in the yard approach the vehicles, pour a flammable liquid around them, and igniting the fires.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak to with anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incident.
